Serving the Youth of Hancock County
On August 24, 1998, the Hancock County Learning Center, again opened the doors to the
youth of Hancock County.
Providing classes for students who are chronically
disruptive in their home districts the goal of the
learning centers is two-fold:
To
remove the severe behavior problems from the regular classrooms.
To
provide an alternative form of instruction during the expulsion
period for those students who will benefit from it.

As part of the
"Safe Schools" legislation, provisions have been made for suspended or
expelled students in grades 6-12 to continue their education at the Hancock County
Learning
Center. Attendance at the Learning Center is voluntary and must have the concurrence
of the
referring district.
Each of the
participating school districts has a representative on the
planning committee for the Learning Center. For additional
information you may contact Gary Eddington or Dr. Louis Battin
at the Regional Office of Education (309) 837-4821.
